Hospitality Artwork: Original Art for Hotels & Commercial Spaces

Hospitality artwork is art created or curated for the spaces where guests are hosted: hotel lobbies, guest rooms, restaurants, spas, and every space between. Done well, it is not decoration layered onto a finished interior. It is part of how a property tells guests where they are, what kind of place this is, and why it is worth remembering.

At 5th Wall Editions, we develop original, site-specific hospitality artwork in direct collaboration with architects, interior designers, owners, and procurement teams, from first concept through final installation.

What hospitality artwork includes

Original commissions. Works created for a specific property, responding to its architecture, location, and story. Strictly limited editions or entirely one-of-one, with full copyright ownership available so the work, and your guests' association with it, exists nowhere else.

Complete art packages. Coordinated collections across an entire property: the lobby statement, guest room series, corridor rhythm, and amenity spaces, developed as one visual language rather than assembled piecemeal.

Art consulting. Concept development, curation, and procurement coordination for teams that need a partner who speaks both the design language and the specification language.

Large-scale installations. Murals, dimensional works, and statement pieces engineered for their exact wall, sightline, and lighting condition.

Why hospitality artwork is its own discipline

Residential art needs to please one client. Gallery art needs to stand alone. Hospitality artwork has to do something harder. It must work for thousands of different guests, hold up under commercial conditions, satisfy brand standards and fire codes, and install on a construction schedule, all while still feeling like art rather than a solved logistics problem.

The discipline spans questions most art conversations never reach. Scale and sightline matter, since a lobby piece is judged from thirty feet during arrival, not from a gallery bench. Durability matters, because guest room art gets bumped by luggage for a decade. Property type matters, since a luxury flagship, a boutique property, and a branded select-service hotel need fundamentally different art strategies, not the same art at different price points. Material engineering matters too: acoustic artwork that quiets a restaurant, acrylic face-mounting that survives the humidity of a spa, and wallcovering murals that meet commercial specifications.

How the process works

  1. Discovery. We learn the property: its architecture, its market position, and the story its team wants guests to absorb without being told.
  2. Concept. Original directions developed for the actual spaces, presented with the specific walls, lighting, and sightlines in mind.
  3. Development. Creation of the work using museum-grade materials: archival inks, papers from the world's most respected mills, and precision-crafted framing built to outlast the design cycle around it.
  4. Installation. Coordinated with your construction or operations schedule, down to security hardware and punch list.

Who we work with

Our clients are the people responsible for how a property looks and performs: hotel owners, architects, interior designers, procurement companies, developers, and asset managers. Each comes to artwork from a different direction, and the process meets each where they are.
